NO KINGS

DETROIT, MI

DETROIT — June 14, 2025.  Thousands of people gathered at Clark Park in Southwest Detroit to protest what organizers describe as authoritarian policies under the current Trump administration. Detroit's event was one of thousands that took place nationwide.  The local movement, coordinated by groups like the 50501 Movement and Indivisible, rallied against concentrated power, racism, militarization, and targeted immigration enforcement.

U.S. Representative Rashida Tlaib (D-Michigan) spoke calling for resistance to what she described as unlawful or unconstitutional federal action.

After speeches, many participants marched close to 3.5 miles from Clark Park to the Patrick V. McNamara Federal Building, maintaining a vocal, non-violent presence.

The No Kings protest in Detroit represents an expression of a broader national movement against perceived democratic erosion, immigration crackdowns, and other policies some view as threatening civil liberties and human rights.

Images from No Kings - Detroit will be on display as part of Karen Lippowiths's Extended Stay photographic exhibit during the month of April at the Novi Civic Center at 45175 W 10 Mile Rd. All are invited to the opening event Thursday, April 16 6-8 p.m., which features light refreshments. Lippowiths will be on hand for a meet-and-greet as part of the event.
